Thessaloniki is known for being a dynamic, youthful, and cultural city. As with most of Greece, there are also ties to the past here. As it turns out, there is more to Thessaloniki than simply visiting these sites. There is a part of Greece that is about an hour away from the city that boasts some of the best beaches in Greece, and Perea Beach is one of them. Here’s more information about what it will take to visit this beach:

Getting to Perea Beach from Thessaloniki

Whether you are staying in Thessaloniki or in an area that is not too far from the city, you will need to find a way to get yourself to the beach. If you have your own car, that part is pretty straightforward. It is about a thirty or forty minute drive from the center of the city depending on the traffic and the easiest route is to take the A25 highway. You’ll want to ask for directions at your hotel or use a reliable GPS to help you get there. You can also take a taxi or public transportation in order to get there. It takes about an hour to get there by bus because of all the stops.

Why Visit Perea Beach

One of the main reasons why you will want to visit this beach is because it is the closest beach to Thessaloniki that is actually worth venturing to. It is about seventeen kilometers away from the center of the city. Aside from that, this beach is also very scenic and boasts warm water, direct sunshine, and a relaxing atmosphere. Since it is one of the closest beaches to the city, however, it can get a little crowded during exceptionally nice days and also the peak tourist season. It is a highly organized beach with facilities and also sun beds and umbrellas to rent. There is also a considerable nightlife on and near the beach to enjoy during your visit.

Plan Your Visit Wisely

Before you set out to visit Perea, you’ll want to think about what you want to do while here. While there is a nice beach here, there are also plenty of other things. Perea is also a town that has a thriving resort community, which means that there will be plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes to explore while you are here. If you suspect you’ll want to venture away from the beach area in order to explore, you’ll want to make sure that you plan that into your day so that you pack correctly and also so that you can arrange for transportation. Since there is also a nightlife scene here, you might also want to bring a change of clothes so you can hit the scene before you venture back to Thessaloniki.

As you can see, Perea Beach is a worthwhile place for you to visit while in Thessaloniki. It is not only a beach, but also a resort community with a thriving nightlife.
