Comments Off on Mykonos is the Perfect Island for Families
Despite its reputation as an island for people who love to party, Mykonos is also the perfect island for families! The truth is, the island is large enough so that you can easily avoid the nightlife if you desire. The island has a rich history to explore as well as plenty of other activities for the whole family. Here’s an overview of the best things for families to do while traveling to the island of Mykonos:
Archaeological Site of Delos
Although Mykonos is known as being a popular island for resort-goers and those looking for some great nightlife, it actually has a rich history that originated early on in Ancient Greece. Visitors who have seen archaeological sites elsewhere in Greece understand exactly how magnificent Delos is. It is one of the most well studied archeological sites in the country. The whole family will enjoy visiting here, especially if you’re able to take a guided tour.
Rarity Gallery
The Rarity Gallery is one of the most unique places on the island and it is will be a crowd pleaser, even if your family doesn’t typically enjoy art galleries or museums. Located in Mykonos Town, the pieces here are beautiful and unique. Since the gallery has the pieces for sale, that means that you can stop in every time you’re on the island and never really see the same things twice. If you happen to love art collecting, you may just found a few interesting pieces to add to your collection!
Agios Sostis Beach
People of all ages love to visit Agios Sostis Beach! Considered to be one of the best beaches on the whole island, it is perfect for families and people of all ages. The water here is a crystal blue color and it is a great beach for those who are looking to avoid the party crowd. Because this beach isn’t as popular as some of the others on the island, though, you will need to bring your own chair or towel. You’ll also want to bring your own food. There are some things nearby, but none that are located directly on the beach.
Matoyianni Street
Are you looking for a great place to go shopping? If so, you won’t want to miss Matoyanni Street! The shopping here is fashionable and high end, which means that the shops and boutiques are perfect for browsing. There are also restaurants and cafes here to pass the time, as well. During peak tourist season, this street gets busy since it is near the port where cruise ships dock, but it is still worth a visit.
Armenistis Lighthouse
Although visiting the Armenistis Lighthouse won’t take much time out of your day, it is still worth a visit since this is a great opportunity to take some photos! The view here is one of the best on the island, which means that you’ll get some of the best family pictures of your visit. Depending on where you’re staying, you can either drive, rent a taxi, or rent bicycles in order to get here.
While in Mykonos, your whole family will enjoy visiting these top sites!
