The building is being restored to upgrade the art facilities to include exhibitions from certain periods, educational programs, and workshops.

The museum is located at the site of a former Fix brewery. Even though the museum started operating in 2000, it has gone numerous years void of art. The facility was delayed by legal, political, and bureaucratic problems. It has rebounded and is open to the public.

Celebrating the Modern Greek Artist

The museum has made some of the Greek artists more recognized. It is the first modern art museum in Greece. Many artists from Greece have struggled during the economic crisis, so the museum hope to make them visible. However, this museum is a great hub for modern art in Greece and it does draw an international crowd.

The museum was founded when Greece wasn’t in an economic crisis, and it is still going strong. The art museum is near the Acropolis museum, which is one of the most popular attractions in the city. The museum hopes to improve on the cultural aspects of Athens and Greece.

  • Glass and Bone Sculptures 1977-2017 – This exhibition offers a selection of forty glass works and bones that were erected by a Belgian artist.
  • Critical Dialogues – This exhibit claims the belief that art frequently builds new concepts and questions; therefore, dialogue is stimulated that could be a new manner of thinking.

Education Opportunities at the Museum

Trainings are offered for all levels of education. These programs are meant to contribute to the discovery of experiments and make students familiar with the concepts of modern art. Special tours and educational groups are offered at the museum. A section of the museum includes relevant education materials for both students and teachers.
