About Katelios Beach
On the Greek island of Kefalonia is the beach and village of Katelios. Katelios Beach is located about 30 km from Argostoli, the island’s capital. Katelios Beach, as well as the village, is ideal for a family vacation, a couple’s vacation, or a solo vacation. The surrounding green hills adds to the relaxing atmosphere of the beach. You can walk a good distance into the sea and still only be waist-deep. The water is calm, so snorkeling is the perfect water sport to enjoy when at Katelios Beach.
The village of Katelios is found in a green forest that is home to beautiful and aromatic olive groves, pine trees and eucalyptus trees. Katelios is traditionally a fishing village. It’s the perfect place to visit if you want to take a relaxing stroll and enjoy a delicious meal. Ten minutes away, there is a more lively resort at Skala. In Skala, you will find shops, activities, bars, and cafes. An interesting site to visit when you’re in the area is the remains of the 3rd century Roman Villa. You can admire the mosaics on the floors. These mosaics depict different events. One, for example, shows the god Envy attacked and eaten by a leopard, panther, tiger, and lion. In 1944, the villa was discovered completely by accident by the owner of the land. You can explore the area for free.
Getting to Katelios Beach
Getting to the island of Kefalonia can be done by ferry from Athens. The ports of Kefalonia also receive ferries from Zakynthos, Lefkada, Ithaca, and Killini to name a few. If you want to fly to Kefalonia, the International Airport on the island receives flights from Corfu, Athens, and Zakynthos.
Once on the island of Kefalonia, Katelios can be reached quite easily from anywhere on the island of Kefalonia. From the airport to Katelios is about 28 km. You can rent a car or take a taxi. There is a bus system, but it might not be the most convenient way of getting to Katelios.
