Comments Off on Enjoy Kallithea Beach on Rhodes Island
Rhodes is a distinct Greek island that has enchanted people for centuries. Adding to the allure is the clear history here that is traced to Medieval Europe. Since it was once the official seat of the Knights of Saint John, there are remnants of that time period located in several key spots throughout the island. However, we mustn’t forget that this is also an island with plenty of fabulous Greek beaches to enjoy. There are nearly fifty beaches that the public can enjoy as well as several other private ones. Kallithea Beach, which is located near the Kallithea Springs, is one of those that you won’t want to miss. Here’s more information:
Getting to Kallithea Beach
If you are spending a lot of time in Rhodes Town, you will find that this beach is extremely convenient. Located about eight kilometers away from the main town, this is a very accessible beach, especially by taxi or if you rented a car. It is also possible to take public transportation, but you might find that you’d rather have the freedom of arranging your own transportation. Before you can head to the beach, however, you will need to ind a way to get to Rhodes itself. To do that, you can either take a flight into the regional airport on Rhodes or take a ferry from some of the islands in Greece. There are also ferries that leave from Piraeus, which is near Athens and is the biggest port in Greece.
Exploring the Beach
Once you arrive at the beach, you will find that it is known for its physical beauty. The beach here is made up of soft sand and has plenty of sun beds and umbrellas to rent. There are also some facilities here to make your stay enjoyable. You will find that the waters are also especially warm, which means that this is a great beach for both sunbathing and swimming. This is also an excellent beach for families who are looking for a relaxing place to bring the kids.
Enjoy Kallithea Springs
You might find that you are perfectly content staying at the beach all day. However, you might not want to leave until you enjoy the mineral springs that are near the beach. The Italians noticed that the springs had therapeutic properties so they built a facility that enabled people to enjoy them. The buildings fell into disrepair and closed. They have since been renovated, which means that visitors and locals alike can enjoy them once again. They have a great reputation and you can easily spend the whole day in the springs without even visiting the beach.
As you can see, Kallithea Beach is a unique place to visit while on the island of Rhodes. While here, you’ll also want to spend time at the mineral springs, especially now that the buildings have been renovated to accommodate guests once again after falling into disrepair once the Italians left the island.
