Located at a gorgeous lake, you might want to consider heading to this cave early in the morning when the light is at its best.

As mentioned above, Kefalonia is a truly gorgeous and enchanting island. As a result, there are many beautiful places to see while here. Katovrathes is a phenomenon that is unique to the island, and you won’t want to miss the chance of seeing it for yourself. Here, you will witness a geological phenomenon that is unique to this island. Water travels in an interesting way, and researches have found that after the water gets sucked into the earth, it ends up at Melissani Cave.
De Bosset Bridge
De Bosset Bridge was constructed in 1813 and is considered to be a unique landmark. The bridge is no longer in use, but it has such historical roots and is such a noticeable landmark, you won’t want to miss the chance to see it. You can view it easily while approaching Kefalonia by sea, but you can also easily see it while on the shore. It makes for a great photo opportunity so you can remember your stay on the island!
Lighthouse of Saint Theodoroi
Kefalonia has a unique lighthouse known as the Lighthouse of Saint Theodoroi. It is located off the island a little bit on a small, manmade peninsula. It has an interesting history and was originally built in 1828. It was mostly destroyed in an earthquake in the 1950’s, but it was rebuilt in the 1960’s. Be sure to take plenty of photos when you do see it!
Assos Castle
If you love castles, you won’t want to miss the chance to visit this place. Built during the island’s Venetian Occupation, the castle was designed as a mighty fortress. Much of it still stands today, making it an excellent place for visitors to explore. However, not all of it is intact- part of the castle was destroyed.
