Honey is commonly found throughout Greece. Versions of this sauce can be found all over the country, but this particular version is traditional in the Peloponnese region of Greece.
Greek Style Honey Sauce (Saltsa Peloponnese) Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 soft boiled eggs (boil the whole in 4 minutes)
- 2 tablespoons Greek honey
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons warm water
- 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed
- 2 tablespoons fresh, chopped parsley
Directions to Make Greek Honey Sauce:
Spoon the soft yoke out into a small bowl and stir in the honey.
Stir in the salt, pepper, red wine vinegar, and water.
Bruise the capers and the parsley together into a mortar and pestle. Stir into the rest of the sauce.
This sauce tastes great with meat and fish.
