The lobsters that are found in Greece are different than North American lobsters. This recipe tastes great no matter which kind of lobster you can find.
Greek Style Grilled Lobster (Astakos tis Skhara) Recipe Ingredients:
- Salt, to taste
- 6 tablespoons wine vinegar
- 4 small lobsters (about 1 pound each)
- 1/3 cup Greek olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions to Make Greek Grilled Lobster:
Fill a large pot with water and add a pinch of salt and 3 tablespoons of the vinegar. Set the heat on high and bring the water to a boil. Leaving the pot uncovered, add the lobsters, bring the water to a boil again, and then reduce the heat to medium once it boils. Cook the lobsters for three minutes. Drain the lobsters and dry the shells with a paper towel.
Brush the grill rack with olive oil. Heat the grill to medium. Mix the rest of the vinegar, olive oil, honey, coriander, pepper, and more salt together in a small dish. Brush the lobster shells with the mixture and set on the grill. Leave on the grill for about 30 minutes, turning ever 5 minutes or so.
Remove the lobsters from the grill and let them cool enough so you can handle them. Remove the meat from the shell, place in a serving dish, and sprinkle with lemon juice just before serving.
