Written by in , Comments Off on Recipe for Greek Style Fried Calamari

Calamari, or squid, are commonly found in the sea around Greece. This is one of the most popular ways to prepare it.

Greek Style Fried Calamari (Kalamarakia Tiganita) Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh squid, cleaned, washed, and cut in small rings
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for frying
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh, chopped parsley

Instructions to Make Fried Calamari:

Dry the squid pieces with paper towels or a clean, absorbent cloth.

Add the flour to a small dish and gently whisk in the salt and pepper.

Pour olive oil into a deep skillet so it covers about 2-inches. Set the heat to medium and let the oil warm up.

Dip each of the squid pieces into the flour and then drop into the hot oil. Cook each piece until it is golden brown. You may need to do this in batched.

Once each piece is golden brown, remove it from the oil and place onto absorbent paper towels. Garnish with lemon juice and parsley just before serving.
