Protomagia (May 1st) is the celebration of nature’s rebirth as a way to welcome spring after a long winter. It is also known as International Labor Day in Greece. On May Day, people in Greece pick wildflowers and create beautiful Stefania (wreaths.) This tradition which dates back to ancient times continues to be a popular activity in Greece along with flying kites and enjoying picnics as a family.
GGT is excited to announce our own celebration of Protomagia! Nicole Boulas Jaffe, design director and owner of Petalouda Flowers, a Boston based traveling flower market, will work to instruct GGT students in making their own stefania using seasonal dried flowers, fake flowers and palms!
