Feed Your Soul: The Third Annual Martin Luther King Day Breakfast
by Champion Rev. Nancy Wood, Cheshire Medical Center
Being the healthiest community in the nation means attending to our spiritual health just as we do our physical health. A great way to do that is to participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast. The food at the event is delicious and nutritious; the experience of celebrating and extending King’s legacy of hope and justice feeds the soul.
Co-sponsored by the Keene Interfaith Clergy and the City of Keene’s Martin Luther King, Jr./Jonathan Daniels Committee, this is a time for our community to honor the life and spirit of Dr. King, and engage in the on-going work of living out his mission of peace, justice, diversity, and non-violence.
This year’s speaker is Ron Buford, a nationally recognized preacher and church leader who helped envision the ‘God is Still Speaking’ program within the United Church of Christ. Ron is passionate about social justice and extravagant welcome in communities of faith. He currently serves as Intern Pastor and Teacher at the Congregational Church of Weston, MA.
The breakfast will cost $10.00 and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at The United Church of Christ at the head of the square, the Toadstool Bookstore, and at the door. In the past two years, this event has sold out so I encourage you to plan ahead to be a part of this hopeful and spirit-filled event!
