Cullen’s Challenge

Just 2 ½ years ago, Cullen Kleftis was an ordinary 15 year old teenager who enjoyed playing hockey, video games, and spending time with family and friends.  This all changed!

It was January 2006, while holding his little brother in his arms, Cullen slipped on ice and fell on his left knee.  This injury prompted an X-ray and in turn gave Cullen and his family the most shocking news

Cullen Kleftis was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma – bone cancer at the age of 15.

Cullen

This bright, loving, almost 18 year old, high school senior, has endured more pain and sorrow in the past couple of years than we can ever image.  The devastation to Cullen, his parents, Bill and Sandy Kleftis, his sister, Shawna, his brother, Nolen, numerous relatives, and countless friends has and continues to be the worse nightmare imaginable.

Cullen has been a fighter and a motivator through this dreadful ordeal.  He has been our hero as he has persevered and showed courage through limb-salvage surgery, a metal prosthesis, 3 lung surgeries, an appendicitis surgery, and has tried countless chemotherapies and clinical trials.  Unfortunately all of these surgeries and treatments are not killing the cancer.

Nothing is working!  The cancer has metastasized!  We are hoping for a miracle, however, the doctors are encouraging Cullen to live out his dreams with the time that he has remaining.

As you can imagine, this journey has been an emotional and expensive tribulation.  We want Cullen to fulfill as many dreams as he can now.
